The young let out an annoyed sigh. “So now what? Are you going to kill me?”

“Why would I do that?”

“Since I was in your property.”

Luke shook his head. “I wouldn't gain anything if I did that. If I did kill you then it would cause an uproar with Tunstall and his gang. It would also make it seem that I'm with Dolan and Murphey.”

“I have been told that Sheriff Brady is working with Dolan and Murphey. Wouldn't the marriage bring you both benefit.”

Luke eyed a wooden cabinet and went to it. He opened one of the doors and got out a bottle of whiskey and a glass cup. “Want some? Wait, I forgot, you don't drink alcohol.” He then sat back on his chair as he poured himself whiskey. “True, but I could hardly care of getting any benefit. I'm doing well as it is. Charles, was the one who asked that girl to marry him. He wants me to join their cause, but I'm still keeping my ground.”

“By the sound of it, you don't sound very close with your son. I met him at Mr. Gus' gun shop. He and Billy were going to get into it, but I put a stop to it.”

Luke nodded. “Charles can be irresponsible. He's not well-liked in the community.”

Emiliano chuckled. “I guess you didn't raise him right.”

It was quiet between them and Luke looked down at his drink in a thoughtful manner. “You could say that I didn't raise him as much. His mother did. I have a troublesome relationship with my family.”

“I see.” Emiliano put his head on the the wall.

Luke laid back comfortably on his chair, with his drink on his hand. “Tell me more about your life.”

“Why?”

“Because I asked. You said you come from the Mescalero tribe. How about your family?”

Emiliano raised an eyebrow. “I already told you, besides, it's none of your business.”

Luke then raised an eyebrow. 10“ Eres bastante terco.”

11“Y eres un metiche.”

All of a sudden, Emiliano noticed Luke getting a hold of his bag and began to look inside. “Wow, you have many knives. Why so many?”

“I prefer them rather than guns. They're easier to handle.”

Luke looked in the bag and noticed a smaller bag, got a hold of it and took it out. “What's this?”

Emiliano's eyes widened and moved forward, but since he was tied, he landed on the floor. “Don't open that bag!”

“What's inside?”

“Please don't! My mother's ashes are inside!”

The elder man stopped. “Excuse me?”

Emiliano sat up. “My mother died a while ago from an illness, it was her wish to be cremated and for me to put her to rest.”

“You are quite stubborn.”

“And you are nosy.”
